Freight Beacon

Freight that finds its way home.

A small cellular GPS tracker you slip inside the freight. It reports where the load is, so stolen freight has a chance to be recovered, and when the load arrives it sends itself back to you.

How it works

  1. 1

    Packed with the freight

The beacon rides hidden inside the shipment, in its own small box with a prepaid, self-addressed label back to you.

  2. 2

    Reports where it is

It reports the freight’s position over cellular GPS while the load is on the move.

  3. 3

    Asks to be found

When the load reaches the receiving facility, the beacon beeps so someone can find it.

  4. 4

    Scan to silence

Whoever finds it scans its QR code, which opens a page that turns the beeping off.

  5. 5

    Ships itself back

It goes into the outbound mail for the UPS or FedEx pickup and returns to the shipper, ready for the next load.

Why it matters

  • Hidden in the freightIt travels with the goods, not the truck, so it keeps reporting even if the freight leaves the trailer.
  • A chance to recover stolen freightIts position gives you somewhere to start if a load is stolen.
  • No trips to get it backThe prepaid return box brings every beacon home without anyone driving to collect it.
  • Leased, not bought$35 a month per beacon, with no hardware to buy up front.

The Freight Beacon is in development and not yet field-tested. We’ll publish specifications such as battery life and coverage once testing is complete.
